In March 2021, four intergenerational hiking groups set off through Berlin’s forests which, after all, account for 20% of the city’s area. Schoolchildren ranging between the ages of nine and thirteen hiked with one or two grandparents by their side or accompanying them on the phone. They talked about forests (and cities), climate change, planting trees, watering, becoming and passing away. Schwenk & Schmans have brought together the images, videos, audios, texts, questions and thoughts collected during these walks, creating a thoughtful and touching documentary.
